The keyword of this small place that looks like a bunker but is just an underground room made of metal is MKKM-1. It comes from the following Russian words: Международни Кабель Коаксиал Магистральный 1 and translates to “International Cable Coax Trunk 1”. So, to cut the long story short, during the Cold War the Soviets had an idea of connecting all the Warsaw Pact countries with a cable network that would withstand a nuclear war, starting from Moscow, passing through major cities of the Eastern Bloc and ending in East Berlin. As expected there was major nodes and smaller repeaters between the Comms central stations. Well, this is one the countless repeaters. Once you’ve seen one, it’s like you’ve seen all of them.
