On the edge of the city of Charleroi in Belgium there used to be a coal fired power plant until it was decided to shut it down following greener policies with regards to the environment. Since it was closed down it has been left to decay and of course like all the lost places it has become a paradise for the metal thieves and all the sorts of illegal activities. There is security on site from time to time but it is quite big in order to be protected properly, thus it is easy to get to. The river flows through the site as well which gives an extra flavour to the experience. There used to be an external stairwell that led to the inner side of the cooling tower but it has been demolished so you’ve got to become an acrobat and climb all the way up from the bottom of the inner side.
