After the end of the WWII and the victory of the allies over Nazism the country was divided in four sectors each of the superpowers taking its own bit. The same happened with the capital, Berlin. However, the Westerns merged the three parts and created what was later known as West Germany (BRD) whereas the Soviets kept the Eastern part within the Eastern Bloc of countries which was commonly known as East Germany (DDR). Berlin undergone the same process but until the Berlin Wall was built it was in reality one city. Then the Wall was built which angered the Westerns and boycott the SBahn lines which were operated by the East Berliners. For years the trains were running empty in West Berlin until the early 80s when lots stopped operating and some lines closed. This is one of the lines which never reopened after reunification. It is a pretty beautiful route with houses and small businesses to each side which goes for few kms, has few stations left, an old school switch tower, the tracks remain and there’s also lots of remains of features like cable boxes, signals, signs, etc. The stations have been officially sealed to prevent drug addicts and homeless to find shelter but the rascals have made holes on the walls anyway with signs of such use inside.
